today was awesome!

wow... i never felt so loved by children before in my life until today! our gunny has signed us up for this thing where schools in the states send us some care packages here in good 'ol Iraq. well, we had a TON of packages come in and we had no clue on what to do with them. so we had the awesome idea to hand out all the toys and hygene stuff to the locals. we went to DHQ (where we work) and had a few IPs to help us out with the town so they can show us where all the kids are. so we drove around the town for a few mins, finally stoped in the middle of the town where a lot of houses are. i got out of the HummV and i saw maybe 4 or 5 kids just walkin around. lol as soon as Kody opened a box of goodies 40 kids came running out of every where! i even think i saw one kid jump out of a tumble weed!! i got a hand full of candy (or chocolata) and put it in my pocket. so i walked around the back of the HummV and started passing out candy... then all of a sudden i ran out! wow those kids are loud lol. so kody came over with the box and just gave out handfulls of candy. when kody ran out, one of the IPs came up to the kids and told them to go home. So... we drove around a lil more and stopped again where there wasn't as many kids but there was enough to make u run away. this time i had a box of toys and i was trying to be fair, giving at max 2 per kid. well, that didnt work so well lol. kids bummed rushed me and started snatching toy after toy out of my hand. kody was passing out mouth wash and toothpaste and wasnt getting much attention at all lol. there was this one kid that looked different from all the others but i couldnt find what was different about him. as i kept on getting mugged by the kids around me i finnally realized it... he was missing a hand!! it freaked me out for a lil bit, but kody didnt notice it. kody was just giving this kid one thing after another and he already had like 4 stuffed animals. so i said "kody! stop giving that kid stuff, he cant hold any more." he asked why. i said "he is missing a HAND!" he jumped back like he just saw a ghost lol... by the time that we got rid of all the goodies the kids, once again, multiplied. they were sad but we shook there hands and gave friendly smiles. walked around a lil and tryed to talk to the local adults. this was the conversations... in english lol.... hello - hello -how are you? - good, you? -very good. that was it but you can tell that they appreciate the time we took to just "mingle" with the comunity. well we got a long day ahead of us. got some extreme higher ups comming. so i well blog to ya l8r!
